“We love living in this part of Florida. We love the crystal white-sand beaches and the water. My husband likes kayaking, biking, and fishing. I love the diversity of the local cuisine and the energy in the city. It’s perfect for both of our tastes!”

The western panhandle of Florida is one of the state’s best-kept secrets. Known as the Emerald Coast, it is a blend of tropical beach resorts and traditional southern culture. At the coast, its gorgeous beaches rival those of its Southern Florida neighbors in beauty – but not in crowds. In coastal cities such as Navarre and Destin, you’ll find luxurious vacation homes, high-rise condos, and upscale beach resorts. Travel a bit more inland and you’ll encounter a rural area full of forests and farms where they harvest timber and cotton and Tupelo honey. There’s also a bit of urban sprawl – Pensacola has a booming population, a thriving economy, and a pulsating nightlife. Combine all of that with a temperate climate, a low cost of living, and a warm southern culture, and you’ve got an area that’s perfect for any lifestyle.

Despite its diversity, there is a distinct personality to the people of the western panhandle. There is an emphasis on national and community pride thanks to its 5 major military bases. There are also several major universities in the area, encouraging a culture of knowledge and innovation. That’s why Truland fits so easily into this area – we use quality products and an innovative approach to create superior homes that foster strong local communities. Pensacola is the perfect combination of a busy metropolitan city and a relaxed beachfront town.  It’s sprawling downtown area is bustling with everything you would expect from a popular city – restaurants, shopping, cultural venues, a variety of annual festivals, and more. But the city is also nestled within miles of white-sand coastline and stunning bay areas, giving it that renowned Florida feel. The US military plays a large role in the city; it is proud to be home to the country’s premier Naval Aviation Station and the famous Blue Angels aerobatics team. But it’s not all fun and games – Pensacola boasts the state’s top standardized testing scores and most awarded school districts, making it a perfect home for growing families. If you’re looking for a place that provides the convenience and culture of a large city with the comforts of a small beach town, you’ll feel right at home in one of Truland’s great Pensacola neighborhoods.

Milton is a waterfront lover’s dream thanks to the three rivers that wind their way through the city. Known as the canoe capital of Florida, it is a refuge for paddlers, rafters, and tubers alike. The surrounding area is rural, full of secluded forests, quiet waterways, and rolling farmland. It is the Santa Rosa County seat and one of the oldest cities in the state, making it rife with history and community pride. The downtown area combines this historical pride with a modern and progressive feel, offering a variety of amenities and attractions in old-town facades. The community is friendly and close-knit, encouraged by the city’s many annual festivals and community events. It is the perfect place for families who want an outdoor life at a slow and quiet pace – and with one of the lowest cost of livings in the state. We’re proud to make the Milton community stronger by the Truland homes and neighborhoods we build there.

Cantonment is a charming suburb in the metropolitan area of Pensacola. Families who want to be close to the action – but not too close – will find the perfect balance in Cantonment. Its central location allows residents quick access to the amenities and activities in larger cities while maintaining a small-town rural feel. It is also a short drive to the area’s pristine beaches. The downtown area is quaint and typically southern, with old-world facades and chatty neighbors on every corner. There are multiple renowned universities within driving distance, encouraging an emphasis on education and a strong local economy. The local residents are diverse, creating a blended culture that melds many ethnicities and histories together but that holds true to its southern roots. Truland builds homes in many of the town’s five constituent neighborhoods and surrounding areas.

Freeport is a historic town, founded in 1830, and it maintains its rural roots and traditional Florida feel through its lush scenery, waterfront activities, and southern values. Located in central Walton County, it is a convenient drive from many area hubs: Tallahassee, Mobile, Panama City, and more. But it feels more isolated – there are many prime opportunities for fishing, hiking, paddling, and wildlife viewing thanks to the surrounded wetlands. The stunning beaches of South Walton are 15 minutes south and offer all of the scenery and beach activities.
